IOU Charters is captained and crewed by its British owners Martyn and Angie. Angie has many years of catering experience in the UK, which ensures that you are well looked after and provided with some of the best snacks afloat, including freshly made cutters and a wide selection of drinks. Martyn, at 63 years of age, can claim over 45 years of seagoing experience and has captained commercial fishing vessels up to 65 ft.

IOU is a specially built 36-ft Sports Fisherman, with full toilet facilities, a large sun deck, spacious cockpit with sun awning and plenty of seating both in the cockpit and on the fly bridge. They encourage your participation by involving you in re-baiting the lines, steering the vessel and coming up to the bridge, where the navigational instruments are explained. IOU recently underwent a major refit.

Most of the fishing is trolling using outriggers and down riggers with well-tried and tested lures incorporating dead baits. Sometimes they will drift with live baits. Reef fishing can be done but they require prior notice to arrange bait and special anchors. They use short, stand-up rods, which allow you to handle big fish easily; lines are 50 to 80 lbs and they have recently re-equipped with Shimano Tiagras and Penn Internationals.
